Dear students,
In this module we will to introduce you to the field of molecular biophysics. We will cover biological basics as well as common biophysical measurement methods, so that by the end of the course you should have an overview of the exciting field of biophysics. The lecture will be accompanied by exercises with exercise sheets, where you can work through various problems on your own, while also practicing for the final exam.
For general questions, please contact me by email (eckhard.hofmann@rub.de) or talk to me after the lecture. For questions about the exercises, please contact Frederik Großerüschkamp (frederik.grosserueschkamp@ruhr-uni-bochum.de).
In WiSe2024/25 we will hold lecture and exercises in presence! However, we will choose a hybrid format for the lecture, so that you can also participate live via ZOOM, and the content will also be provided asynchronously as recordings in Moodle. However, I encourage you to attend in person whenever possible, as this simply allows for better interaction. The digital offerings are primarily for students with scheduling conflicts and for follow-up.
The exercise consists of practice slips that are handed out weekly and should be solved independently by you. They are then discussed in the face-to-face practice sessions. We will not stream or record these exercise groups via ZOOM.
The lecture will start on Tuesday, 8.10.24, 15:15 in lecture hall NDEF04/397 (Hörsaal Biophysik in the Biology building).
The exercise will start with the first exercise slip on 15.10.24. You should work on these sheets on you own (I strongly suggest to do this in small groups). This year the sheets will not be handed in and corrected by us, but discussed in the exercises in presence. The first exercise in presence is tentatively scheduled to begin on 31.10.24 at 16:00 (also in lecture hall NDEF04/397), and will then be conducted weekly.
Please make sure to register via eCampus so that I can contact all TN. Students from TU Dortmund must absolutely enrol as a secondary student at RUB in order to access eCampus.
You also must self-register with the Moodle course!
I look forward to an interactive event with you, where we can meet in person again!
Kind regards,
Eckhard Hofmann and the lecturers of Biophysics
All participants registered in eCampus will be activated by me in the Moodle course from 8.10.2024. If you have problems with the enrollment in eCampus, please contact me via email.
